Ira Helfand reflects on experience of Hiroshima survivor (May 3)
On May 3, 2016, IPPNW co-president Ira Helfand spoke during a panel on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons during the UN Open-Ended Working Group meetings on nuclear disarmament. His comments were directed to Setsuko Thurlow, a Hiroshima survivor who had just told her personal story of August 6, 1945, the day the US dropped an atomic bomb on her city, when she was 13 years old.
